South West Angels (SWA) is a for-purpose not-for-profit (NFP) and member-lead Association comprising actively engaged private investors that seek to provide investment capital – financial and intellectual – and mentorship to innovative businesses and emerging ventures in the south west region of Western Australia. SWA offers a platform for founders, entrepreneurs and start-ups to present their business ideas and investment opportunities to members.
The group aims to create awareness of angel investing, as an alternative asset class, and educate investors on best practice for investing in local ventures in order to generate efficient quality deal-flow in the south west and complement the diverse innovation ecosystem.
The South West Angels is a not-for-profit organisation actively engaged with connecting investors to emerging businesses. We are part of a State network of Angel groups, with connections to National and International Angel networks.
We provide a place for new businesses to present their investment opportunities to a network of private investors and South West Angel members.
If an offer is not made, your application remains in our deal flow system and can be accessed anytime by our investor members and partner angel groups.
Members of the group have participated in a number of ventures across a variety of sectors.
We understand that intellectual property is a real concern for start-up businesses. Any information provided by you will not be shared with third parties or used for any other purpose than for the evaluation of the submitted funding.
No! Pitches are typically 10 minutes long, with a short question and answer time, and are followed by a relaxed networking session.
Funds are used to accelerate your company’s achievement of key milestones that increase the company’s value. We often fund activities that include research and product development, building sales and marketing infrastructure, and hiring key executives.

We are part of a State network of Angel groups, with connections to National and International Angel networks. Our aim is to provide efficient sourcing and allocation of early stage investment capital for investment ready opportunities in the South West, and educate regional based investors on the potential value of investing in start-ups.
The following matrix provides an overview of the sponsorship packages available. We are happy to discuss with you a range of benefits relevant to your organisation, and will consider a combination of cash and in-kind. A 10% discount applies for agreement of 2 years or more.

Opportunity to partner with SWA for specific events including pitch nights, investor masterclasses and start-up training. Benefits 3-8 above would apply for that specific event.
Angel Investors believe that successful investment in early stage ventures can generate high returns if done with care and diligence. As a member of a group of likeminded investors, they want to learn from the experience of others and thereby reduce their investment risk.
Typically, Angel Investors are experienced business people and bring much more than just money to the companies they invest in. This usually allows them to be strategically involved in the ventures they invest in, whether as directors or advisors where relevant.
Angel groups have grown significantly both in Australia and globally. Groups offer Angel investors the opportunity to invest in and help build successful companies – while also having a good time. Every group is different in terms of investment strategy and culture.
SWA offers interested investors a variety of benefits including:
Open to individual adults who are active as Angel Investors and have made at least one Angel investment. Angel members are the backbone of the Association. They have full voting rights and are entitled to hold office in the Association.
Annual Fee $500 + GST (*2 additional staff/guests may attend events)
This membership is open to government, corporate and private organisations that provide services, or otherwise support Angel investors and/or their portfolio companies. Those organisations must have a good faith intention to contribute to the objectives of the SWA and agree to abide by the SWA Code of Conduct.
Corporate members will receive full member privileges for 2 nominated individuals plus invitations to all events and pitch nights for 2 additional staff members or guests.
